Welcome to Top of Michigan Trails Council

Our mission is to advocate for and facilitate the development of a safe, multi-use, year-round recreational trail system in Northern Michigan. Our system of trails encompasses a seven-county area, and connects residents and visitors with communities and attractions throughout this area. These trails have become a drawing card for tourists and new residents in northern Michigan.  Click HERE to find information about all of our trails.

If you want to find information about all the trails of Northern Michigan--including land, water and cultural trails--you might want to visit Up North Trails, a website the Trails Council helped to create.

Kids Biking Club --Thanks to all the great kids that took part this summer! Watch for more opportunities in the future. Many thanks to volunteer Cindy Okerlund for her planning and leadership. We're also grateful for the help of TOMTC Safety & Maintenance Director Bill Prall, Latitude 45 owner Christian Janssens, and volunteer leader Dennis Schanski.

The Northwestern State Trail is now complete!  From Petoskey to Alanson it is an asphalt trail, there is a short .7 mile shared road ride in Alanson, then there is 23 miles from Alanson to Mackinaw City it is an improved packed crushed limestone surface and then another 1.5 miles of asphalt in Mackinaw City.

Many thanks to our corporate sponsors that make this website possible! Please visit their sites by clicking on the logos at the bottom of this page. If you do business with one of these establishments, please mention that you saw them listed as a community supporter of our trails system!
