Another trail that appears on our map is the NORTH COUNTRY TRAIL through Antrim, Charlevoix, and Emmet Counties. (Maps 10B, 10A, 9B, 9A) This trail is a part of the national trail that stretches from New York State to North Dakota. For information on the local segments call (231) 526-9597.)
Besides the 200 or so miles of trail described above there are at least another 400 miles in the eight county TOMTC service area. The DNR owns most of "our" mileage as well as some of the other miles. Some of those other miles are in state parks and forests or are owned by MDOT, some by counties, cities, and townships, some by nature conservancies, some by private resorts, and some are on private land in which the owners have given easements for trail use. We are currently adding the names and approximate trail mileage for all 70 trails in our service.
We have an old brochure that shows the general location of nearly all of these other trails that have designated uses and restrictions. Contact us for a copy of this out-of-use brochure.
