Given to the council by the Otsego County Community Foundation, the grant will join thousands of dollors in donations and contributions from local governments, foundations, businesses and individuals to match federal funds for the trail project. Costing nearly $2 million, the project will involve resurfacing 62 miles of trail between Gaylord and Mackinaw City with crushed limestone which is expected to give trail users an excellent furface for walking, hiking, bicycling, jogging, and snowmobiling. The project, undertaken by the Department of Natural Resources, will upgrade the trail running from Gaylord through Vanderbilt, Wolverine, Indian River, Topinabee, Mullet Lake Village, and Cheboygan before ending in Mackinaw City. 06/05/2008 Riding the Trails 03/26/2008 Airport to Harbor Springs Segment of Little Traverse Wheelway set for Construction in August 12/17/2007 Setting the Record Straight 12/12/2007 Petoskey Park Study Includes Trails 10/24/2007 Where there's a Wheel, there's a Way 10/18/2007 Rail-Trail to be Officially Re-Opened 10/16/2007 Wheelway to be Closed for Repairs 10/03/2007 Gaylord to Mackinaw Trail Open for Riding 05/20/2007 Wheelway Needs Better Maintenance 03/12/2007 Get out and Bike on the Wheelway 12/27/2006 Vandals Attack Signs Along Mullet Lake Trail |
