30 Jun 2022 Annual Meeting Recap

On June 29th, we welcomed around 200 members of the Top of Michigan Trails Council to our Annual Meeting – the Party on the lawn! With wonderful food provided by David and Kathy Beier, entertainment from Jelly Roll Blues Band, and a sneak peek at our new Founders’ Terrace, we conducted a successful Annual Meeting. 

Executive Director, Brent Bolin, gave a state of the trails update – also outlined in pages 5 & 6 of our Annual Report. Board President, Dave Gerathy, led everyone through the business portion of the meeting, confirming the board of directors proposed here, and the updates to our articles of incorporation, proposed here. Kids biking lead, Cindy Okerlund, gave an overview of the return of Pedaling with a Purpose, as well as thanked members for their commitment to the program, raising over $50,000 last year to ensure the program runs for another three years.

To close the meeting, we recognized four outgoing board members, Christian Janssens, John Gravlin, Luther Kurtz, and Jim Schroeder.

The final recognition given was the presentation of the Max Putters Trail Champion Award. This year’s recipient, Lisa Huffman Loyd, was well deserving for her time and dedication to the Founders’ Terrace at the Top of Michigan Trails Council’s Packy Offield Trail Center. Lisa worked tirelessly over the past 3 years to coordinate all the pieces, from landscape design to reviewing contract bids, to project managing, not to mention all of the fundraising to make the dream of our updated outdoor space a reality. Thank you Lisa for all of your hard work!
