It’s a smart way to go: EMGO buses and bicycles!
Thanks for your kind support! As of May 8 we have exceeded our challenge grant goal and have earned an extra $500 toward this effort. We’ll keep accepting donations through May 15 — help us purchase another bike rack!
The Top of Michigan Trails Council, along with Emmet County and Friends Enhancing Emmet Transit (FEET), are spearheading an effort to raise donations for the purchase of bicycle racks to be installed on EMGO buses.
As ridership continues to increase on EMGO buses, and with warmer weather just around the corner, supporters of public transit hope to expand its service by installing bike racks on the public transit buses which began operating in January.
The addition of bike racks on the buses will provide opportunities to those using bicycles for general transportation, for health purposes or for recreation.
The many miles of trails available and the ability to transport a bicycle on a public bus will allow both serious and casual cyclists to extend travel within Emmet County. Cyclists could place bikes on the bus, travel to the other side of the county and spend the day enjoying that area on bike, and then either ride back or take the bus back. Those using bikes to get to and from work could reduce the time needed to commute by using a combination of bikes, bus transit and existing trails.
To help financially, donate on this page, or mail gifts to TOMTC, 1687 M 119, Petoskey, MI 49770. Please note “bike racks” on your check.
THANKS for supporting this effort!
