04 Mar Nordic Skiers Battle at Annual Black Mountain Races
Thirty-four athletes finished the 27k Black Mountain Nordic Classic at Black Mountain Recreation Area on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The annual two-day event benefits volunteer grooming efforts there.
Drew Moore won the Classic with a time of 1:34:18.
Sunday’s freestyle race drew 26 contestants. Ryan Harris won the 12k event with a time of 32:28. Ryan came in second in the preceding day’s Classic race. Coincidentally, Drew Moore placed second in the the skate.
In the women’s division, Rebecca Davis won the Classic in 1:59:42. The Sunday Freestyle was won by Sarah Newmeister in 40:40.
