Tap Into the Trails
September 21 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Get ready to celebrate all things trails in Cheboygan County with Tap Into the Trails. Among trail activities that day will be a fun run hosted by Top of Michigan Trails Council. Registration opens June 1.
There will also be a bike ride from Cheboygan to Little Traverse Conservancy’s Hoffius Preserve on Lake Huron. Details:
Ride the North Central State Trail to the Barbara Hoffius Preserve and Back
Beginning at 8:30 am at Festival Square Anne Ann Fleming will lead a bike ride north on the North Central State Trail to and back from the Hoffius Preserve just off US 23. The total round trip distance is 15 1/2 miles. A volunteer will sweep to make sure no one is left behind. Once at the Preserve bikes will be left at the entrance and riders will walk about 1/2 mile to the shore of Lake Huron where the beauty of the Lake can be appreciated. A volunteer will stay with the bikes.
While the trail is flat, riders should be prepared to ride the distance comfortably. It is not a ride for young children. Since the path to the shore of Lake Huron includes steps and uneven ground, comfortable walking shoes are advised. Helmets are encouraged.
