12 Nov Grants Will Help Trails Council Promote and Build Trails
Two grants from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation (C3F) are helping the Top of Michigan Trails Council pursue trail projects in Charlevoix County.
Most recently, our organization received a $5,625 Foundation grant. These funds will be used to support outreach in two communities in the county, Boyne City and Charlevoix, pushing forward projects like the Boyne City-Charlevoix Trail, the Charlevoix Trailway, and updates to Charlevoix’s Lake to Lake Trail.
The funds were awarded through the Foundation’s Geographic Enrichment grant cycle.
Earlier this year, the Trails Council was awarded $14,000 to help offset construction costs of the Charlevoix Trailway, which will extend the Little Traverse Wheelway from Waller Road into town.
These funds came from the Foundation’s Environment & Land Use grant cycle, made possible by the Ethel Coeling Environmental Fund, the Tunison-Garlock Fund for the Environment, the Jim and JoEllen Rudolph Fund for the Environment, and the Lake Charlevoix Watershed Fund, among others.
“We’re so grateful for the Charlevoix County Community Foundation’s support,” said Trails Council Executive Director Brent Bolin. “These funds will go a long way toward the completion of these projects. The Foundation is a valuable community partner.”
