11 May Trails Partner Emmet County Parks & Recreation Dept. Buys Vertical Flail Mower

Emmet County Parks and Recreation recently made a sizeable investment in trail maintenance.

According to Parks and Rec Director Ryan Bauman, his department purchased a Del Morino CS132M vertical flail mower. Ryan said the $6,800 unit has a hydraulic offset and hydraulic tilt. With a working width of 52 inches and versatile tilting capabilities for hedges and ditches, the mower is designed for cutting grass, weeds, and brush, with standard hammer blades that are effective for mulching tree clippings.

Ryan said they hope to use the new equipment on the North Western State Trail this week, trimming back trail-side brush. Trail users who encounter trail workers should give them plenty of room.
