01 Jul Jim Conboy Receives 2025 Max Putters Trail Champion Award

Pictured (l-r) are Trails Council Executive Director Brent Bolin, Trails Council Board President Dr. Tom Ling, Jim Conboy, and Trails Council Associate Director Becca Nelson.
Jim Conboy of Cheboygan received the 2025 Max Putters Trail Champion Award at the Top of Michigan Trails Council’s annual meeting on June 26 at the Packy Offield Trail Center. Last year’s award winners, Earl and Sherry Bash of Petoskey, were on hand for the presentation.
Jim was also recognized as a retiring Trails Council board member, having served for several years. In fact, he concluded his final year of board service as board president. A true champion for the City of Cheboygan, he is still a dedicated advocate for creating a world-class trail system connecting that town to the rest of northern Michigan.
Involved with the Trails Council since its beginnings in the 90s, he was an early proponent of the Rails-t0-Trails project that would eventually become the North Western, North Central, and North Eastern state trails. Thank you, Jim, for all you have done to improve the quality of life in northern Michigan.
