11 May Volunteers Sought for May 15 Wheelway Litter Clean-up
TOMTC Safety & Maintenance Director Bill Prall will meet with volunteers on Friday, May 15, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Packy Offield Trail Center for a litter cleanup session on the Little Traverse Wheelway.
Crews will be working on the Wheelway from the area behind the D&W Fresh Market/Tannery Creek Trailhead and going toward Harbor Springs from the Trail Center.
Volunteers should wear work clothes, and bright yellow or orange safety attire, if possible. Gloves are necessary. The Trails Council will provide garbage bags and some trash pick-up sticks. There are also a number of neon work vests available. Please bring your own water supply.
Volunteers will split into groups. The cleanup will continue until 1 p.m., or whenever works for our great volunteers. Please help with this effort if you are able. Let’s get the trail ready for the fresh spring green growth.
These cleanups are weather dependent. Light warm rain may be OK, but cold wet weather will cause a postponement. Please let us know if you can help. Email Bill so we know how many volunteers to expect. With 10-15 helpers we have an excellent opportunity to get this section of the Wheelway thoroughly cleaned and ready for trail users. There is a lot of trash and debris out there.
