Welcome, Brent Bolin

For Immediate Release:

Top of Michigan Trails is pleased to announce the hiring of new Executive Director Brent Bolin. A veteran non-profit leader, fundraiser, and community builder, Brent was most recently with national environmental organization Clean Water Action where he served as a Regional Director.

“I’m honored to be joining a dynamic organization that has made a real impact on safe and accessible active transportation in Northern Michigan. Now more than ever we are seeing the importance of trails and the recreation, exercise, and transportation opportunities they provide. By linking our communities by trail, we are building a stronger, more connected, and more prosperous Northern Michigan, and Top of Michigan Trails is leading the way,” said Bolin.

Founded in 1995, Top of Michigan Trails has built a network of over 300 miles of trails stretching from Charlevoix to Alpena, Gaylord to Mackinaw City, and Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, connecting over two dozen communities to state parks, recreation areas, and each other.

“As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, Top of Michigan Trails is looking back on our success in building the current trail network, but also looking forward with our Trail Towns Action Plan that maps out a strategy for building additional connections and unlocking the economic development potential of trails for Northern Michigan communities. Times are tough right now but we are committed to providing this resource for our communities,” said Board President Dave Gerathy.
